Lindner receives Martin Medal - finally
As Chrom Soc members are aware the Society makes two awards each year to prominent scientists whose activities in the field of Separations Science is deserving of formal recognition. In 2009 the Society’s Martin Medal was awarded to Professor Wolfgang F. Lindner. This followed his award in 1991 of the Societies Jubilee Medal awarded to ‘up and coming scientists’ so the potential was certainly fulfilled through to the elevated company that Prof. Linder now finds himself alongside. (For a complete list of past winners of the Martin Medal visit the Chrom Soc web site
www.chromsoc.com ).
Unfortunately Prof. Lindner was unable to attend the HPLC2009 meeting in Dresden earlier this year to be presented with his medal. Fortunately he was able to co-chair the Euroanalysis 2009 conference in Innsbruck, Austria in September where, during the opening
ceremony, Dr. Chris Bevan was able to present the medal to Prof Lindner on behalf of the committee.
The photographs below show Prof. Lindner receiving the medal and addressing the delegates.
Chris Bevan outlines to the delegates the reason for the award and the importance of Prof. Lindners work in Chiral Chromatography.
