Why you should choose Middlesex
— Experts currently involved in the Department include Dr Victoria Waligo, who has worked for Air Tanzania, South Africa Airways and developed new tourism concepts for Westminster Abbey
— Our MSc International Hospitality and Event Management is accredited by the Tourism Management Institute.
I had been working in hotel operation in England for five years when I felt I needed to gain a broader understanding of the tourism industry in order to go further in my career. After checking different master’s courses, the one at Middlesex suited all my needs and touched on the complicated aspects that affect tourism today.
I was really impressed by all the facilities and equipment used during the course. I felt very proud to have such good teachers, who are professionals in their field, and also all the speakers that we had the chance to hear from.
Having completed my master’s, I was contacted by the hotel and resort group Melia to run a very innovative department in one of their best hotels in London. However, I think the master’s helped more now I’m in Spain, as it opened a new mind-set and approach to tourism. I decided to use the diverse knowledge and skills I acquired and I’m starting my own business helping tourism businesses improve their operation, marketing and guest experience. I think the knowledge I gained during the master’s was vital in understanding the tourism industry and spot the opportunities to get involved.
