Something to celebrate

The BIFA Freight Service Awards 2021 competition is now open for entries and the judges hope that Members will take the time to document their achievements of the past months.

It has been repeated many times but 2020-21

really was a year like no other. Of course, the whole world had the issue of the coronavirus pandemic to contend with but BIFA Members had the additional pressures of EU Exit, container and capacity shortages and the blockage of the Suez Canal by the grounding of the Ever Given.

At the same time, the advice to work-from- home and limit in-person trips to the shops led to a surge in demand for online shopping of all manner of products. Importers and forwarders had to work together to devise new plans to keep goods moving around the globe to ensure timely delivery to the end-consumer. As a result, the judges are looking forward to

receiving a bumper crop of entries this year detailing the innovative and problem-solving techniques that have been developed to maintain the integrity of cargo movements under varying national restrictions. Your entry could outline a new approach to your day-to-day activities; perhaps you have a specific case study that you are particularly proud of, or maybe you have branched out into an entirely new area of forwarding that you would not have anticipated a couple of years

Submissions from the finalists are then presented to the judging panel comprising representatives of the award sponsors. Planning for the BIFA Freight Service Awards Luncheon Ceremony on Thursday 20 January 2022 is under way and it is BIFA’s hope that this will go ahead in the traditional format allowing finalists, sponsors, their guests and others to celebrate the best in the industry with the presentation of finalists and announcement of winners.
