22 / PROPERTYMAIL QIs this the first time you have designed a bathroom for yourself?

How did it differ from designing for a client?

AMy husband and I move a lot! We like to renovate and then move so

this is actually the 5th bathroom I have designed for myself in about 6/7 years. I actually find it harder designing for myself than I do for a client. I see so many beautiful things all day every day so my mind is constantly changing, as a result I decided to go very neutral on this room. It is completely different designing for a client, I have to remove my personal preferences and style from the equation and work to their brief and budget. No two projects are ever exactly the same so I would say it’s definitely more fun designing for a client than designing for myself!

QHow would you describe your AMinimalist! I like everything

design style? very plain and very simple. I

like oversized elements, so in every room in my house there will be one thing which is oversized, maybe a ceiling light, a piece of art etc. In this shower room I went for an oversized illuminated mirror which makes the space appear bigger than it actually is.

QYou have reconfigured the layout, suite off a spare bedroom, and we

what was your thinking behind this? AOriginally this was a teeny tiny en-

have a bathroom in a different place in the house. As part of our renovation, we will be absorbing the existing bathroom into our master bedroom space so it becomes a master en-suite, and we decided to use this little guest en-suite as the family shower room by blocking up the entrance from the guest bedroom and creating a new entrance from the landing. We also had an airing cupboard that we didn’t use that was taking space from the room so we knocked this into the shower room space to make it bigger.
