Necessity, the mother of invention

It is time to start preparing your entry for the 33rd BIFA Freight Service Awards – which it is hoped will be held back at the Brewery in Central London

This month sees the launch of the 33rd BIFA Freight Service Awards competition and the judges are anticipating a bumper crop of entries detailing the inventive and innovative flair of forwarders that have faced multiple obstacles in the past year, necessitating new thinking and investments. In spite of the disruption caused by the

COVID-19 pandemic last year the BIFA 2020 Awards were well supported by Members, culminating in video announcements of the category winners in January 2021. It is the sincere hope of the BIFA Awards team that January 2022 will see a return to the traditional luncheon ceremony at the Brewery in central London to celebrate the BIFA Awards 2021 competition. As the world adjusted to new patterns of work

through 2020 and into 2021, BIFA Members maintained supply chains to meet the demands and changes in the business and retail environments. In addition to the adjustments made to steer

through the restrictions brought about by varying international lockdowns in response to

22

COVID-19, there were the small matters of EU- exit, container shortages and the Suez Canal blockage to contend with. All of which have required Members to think on their feet and innovate, potentially providing excellent material for an Award-winning submission. All BIFA Members, no matter their company

size, are encouraged to enter and the BIFA Awards sponsors and judging panels are looking forward to reviewing a diverse range of case studies over the 11 categories.
