Activity 4 Analyse Lindi’s strategy to extend her personal potential

Work in pairs. Read how Lindi planned to achieve her goal in the case study on page 12, and discuss the following with your partner: 1 What ability does Lindi have? 2.1 What is Lindi’s goal? 2.2 Is her goal written positively? Why is this important? 3 Is Lindi self-motivated to achieve her goal? Give a reason for your answer.

4 How will achieving her goal help Lindi develop her personal potential? 5 Give an example of positive self-talk in Lindi’s story. 6 Identify other strengths that Lindi has developed as a result of goal setting.

Lindi’s special ability was singing. Many of you may be good at music or art or in a certain subject and want to improve like she did. Other learners may be talented in a certain sport. Or their strength may be in helping other people. Whatever your abilities and strengths are, you can develop your personal potential through planning and setting goals.
