YFN hits 50 events and counting

BIFA’s YFN has had a highly impressive first two years, despite COVID-19

In just two years since the official launch of the BIFA Young Forwarder Network (YFN) in March 2019, the milestone of 50 events has been reached. This is even more impressive considering the year that we have just experienced and the massive disruption wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the first year of the YFN, to March 2020

when the national lockdown was effected, 741 individuals had attended 28 events including regional launch events, airport and port tours, and talks by industry professionals. COVID-19 caused a temporary hiatus in

planning but events recommenced online in May 2020 with a virtual bake-off. In the past year, 1,222 individuals have

attended 23 online events with event 50, a port tour of DP World London Gateway, taking place in mid-April. BIFA’s YFN is committed to providing

opportunities for those new to the industry to develop their knowledge and professional skills in a more social environment. Membership is free and open to any employee of a BIFA Member. The network is committed to promoting the

logistics and forwarding sector as an exciting career choice and BIFA Members are encouraged and supported to inspire the next generation within their local communities. It is hoped that before the end of 2021 a return

to face-to-face events will be possible in a more social environment, as in the first 12 months of the YFN. The online format, however, does give us a

larger reach allowing participants from all corners of the UK to come together in gaining valuable experience and insight into the industry. Virtual events – which are free – take place

roughly every two weeks on a Wednesday at 15:30hrs for one hour. You can find details of the next event at:
