Streetlink clinic
grateful for new
equipment
Your generosity has helped our critical Streetlink Youth Health service to secure more equipment for its medical clinic in the city. This free service sees more than 2000 young people aged 12 to 25 years old each year – young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
With your support, we have purchased a spirometer and other vital medical equipment so that more assessments and treatments can take place on-site. In particular, the
spirometer will help us to quickly pick up instances of asthma, a relatively common condition but one with serious risks if left untreated.
‘This spirometer will be invaluable to our team and clinic,’ said clinic nurse, Kelly Vernon. ‘Asthma is quite common, however the implications can be dire - particularly for a young person who may be sleeping rough and find it difficult to readily access treatment.’
Your support has meant that we can help young people within the safety and comfort of Streetlink, without the need to make multiple appointments with different clinics, often in environments where they may not feel accepted or understood. Our clients have the extra assurance of knowing that we can identify these kinds of health issues at an early stage, and treat them before they escalate.
Said Kelly, ‘ Thank you to our fantastic donors – they’re helping us to do more for the people we work with and respond quickly when needed.’
