Carly is looking forward to making a cup of tea or coff ee for the patients

She said: “As well as providing company, I’ll be doing things the nurses might not have time for, such as making tea and coff ee and ensuring patients’ water jugs are full. “I’ll also be helping to ensure that patients are wearing face masks when they need to and are following social distancing procedures and other COVID-19 measures. “I’m happy to do my bit, even in a small way, and think it will be really rewarding; some people haven’t seen their families for months on end, so even a video call can make a big diff erence.” Carly added: “The training sessions were really interesting and I learned a lot about confi dentiality, equality and diversity, as well as dealing with vulnerable people and children in diff erent scenarios. I realise now that it’s not just a case of going in and chatting!”
