We picked the brain of some of our city’s best in the wedding industry, asking them the following questions:
1. What 3 questions should couples ask a pro in your field? 2. What 3 moments in your career as a wedding pro stand out most in your mind? 3. What 3 things should couples prepare for?
BRAD POLLARD, Owner, Sizzlin’ Sounds Disc Jockey 1) What do you charge, and how many hours are included in that rate? (Not every DJ package is the same!) 2) Do you take requests from guests? 3) How long before the wedding do we meet, and what will you need from us?
1) My first wedding that I ever DJ’d, I was nervous, but everything went well and I knew I found my passion.
2) A panicked bride contacted me when her DJ didn’t show up, and I was able to grab my gear and headed over to help them out
3) Handling the music for the Special Olympics Rewards Night, they love to dance and we all had a great night.
1) Schedule plenty of time to get ready, if you start off late, it pushes everything back. 2) Concentrate on the big picture, things will go wrong, but allow yourself the freedom to relax, by having others in place to handle those details. 3) Make sure you contact all your vendors a few days before your wedding day, to confirm everyone is on the same schedule, etc.
