IN THE SPOTLIGHT
FINDING NEW OPPORTUNITIES
Going back out into the job market as a result of redundancy can be daunting, and even more so during a pandemic. The career coaching team at
Personal Career Management has many years’ experience helping their clients draw out and evidence their transferable skills to both move forward in the same career or make a change. Jo Thurman, regional director
of Personal Career Management, has seen a marked increase in interest in the firm’s outplacement services since the onset of lockdown. Outplacement is the support that companies can enlist to ensure staff who are facing redundancy can ‘leave well’. As well as their one-to- one coaching, the company has created a series of information packed, practical job search webinars for groups of staff. If you are facing redundancy
and your organisation is not able to fund outplacement support there is still help available. Personal Career Management offer a monthly subscription to icareercoach™ an excellent eLearning app that is packed full of advice, guidance and videos on a wide range of job search topics. Jo said: “Although never an
experience to relish, there is life and indeed new opportunity after redundancy. I have been part of many rewarding client stories where redundancy was the catalyst to take stock and change direction, maybe retrain or upskill, maybe set out on self- employment and ultimately be in a better position than before.” Jo and the team at Personal
Career Management offer advice to anyone facing redundancy and are pleased to offer a free diagnostic conversation to fellow Chamber members.

experience as one of the toughest
