High-Value Loads in the Approach to Christmas DRIVER ADVICE: HIGH-VALUE LOADS 

       

  

    

     

If carrying high-value loads – genuine police officers usually stop vehicles in marked police vehicles and will have no objection to being asked to verify their details

        

Failing to stop for a police officer is an offence – however, if you are suspicious about the reasons of being asked to stop and are suspicious of the officers’ identity, exercise caution – particularly if requested to stop by an unmarked Police Vehicle – look for signs of anomalies – does the uniform look genuine/are the officers footwear appropriate, etc

HIGH-VALUE/VULNERABLE LOAD ADVICE

If you are suspicious of the police/law enforcement officer who has requested you to stop: 1. Keep your mobile phone sufficiently charged

2. Ensure doors are locked, stay in cab, keep engine running

3. Contact your operating centre – giving location and circumstances

                

4. If carrying a high-value/vulnerable load – do not unlock door and ask for an officer ID warrant card, name, number and station

5. If suspicious, inform the police officer that you are willing and happy to follow them to the nearest police station to exit your vehicle

  

6. If you are concerned/suspicious that you may come under attack, call 999 – provide Police with location, goods being carried, circumstance and reasons of suspicion – the stopping officer will accommodate if genuine and will update the police control room of the stop

If you are suspicious of the persons asking you to stop – keep engine running, doors locked and windows closed – pull over in a well lit place and call 999 if necessary
