INDUSTRY NEWS Dialight Launch Led Bulkhead Light
Dialight Group, the leader in industrial LED lighting innovation, has launched its new VigilantTM industrial LED Bulkhead light for the EMEA and APAC markets.
Designed for walkways, stairwells, platforms, tunnels and exit routes, the rugged new light is the latest addition to Dialight’s already successful bulkhead range, offering significant improvement to product performance whilst retaining the reliability and versatility that have made their existing ranges so popular.
Constructed in marine grade aluminium, the CE VigilantTM Bulkhead has an impact rating of K10 (ie, protected from a 5kg object falling 40cms) with a IP66/67 ingress rating with an ambient temperature range from -40°C to
+65°C, ensuring ‘fit and forget’ dependable performance in even the most challenging environments.
The new luminaire is designed for both retrofit and new applications with several mounting options, two optical patterns and battery backup variants. The VigilantTM Bulkhead delivers up to 150 lumens per watt, offering a 2:1 replacement for traditional fixtures to maximise the overall savings for the lighting installation, and houses Dialight’s latest power supply technology, with inbuilt 6kV/3kA surge protection and thermal management system ensuring optimal reliability and longevity of critical components.
In addition to including Dialight’s industry leading 10 year warranty as standard, the new luminaire features extended operational hours of more than 150,000 hours at +65°C
New Multi-Stage Mag-Drive Centrifugal
Pumps Provide More Pressure at Low Flows The established and successful Finish Thompson DB Series range of leak-free, magnetically driven centrifugal pumps has been extended following the addition of 2 new multi-stage pumps.
min. In addition to the benefit of higher pressure/at lower flows performance these new models offer the important advantages of DB pumps thanks to their magnetic drive technology; no seals to replace and zero leakage.
Available from pumping specialists MICHAEL SMITH ENGINEERS these new models have 2 impellers (the MSDB2) or 3 impellers (the MSDB3). This means they can generate more pressure at low flows, which means in some applications they can be used as a smaller, less expensive pump.
Available in a choice of polypropylene or PVDF, the MSDB pumps are ideal for low flow / high head pumping applications, covering flows to 16 m³/hr and differential heads to over 60 metres with minimum flow capabilities as low as 5 lit/
They feature Neodymium-Iron-Boron inner magnets which is acknowledged as one of the most powerful and efficient magnetic materials available, completely encapsulated in unfilled polypropylene or PVDF for superior magnet protection and outstanding chemical resistance. The outer drive allows measurement- free drive installation for perfect magnet alignment and therefore maximum power transmission.
A wide variety of optional components and materials are available to suit more demanding applications and
when fitted with chemical grade carbon bushing, DB pumps can be dry-run for extended periods without damage as the temperature of the shaft remains cool for hours. Shafts are available in high purity alumina ceramic, Hastelloy® C, or SiC.
MSDB pumps can be mounted to NEMA and IEC motors and a variety of connections including NPT or BSP threads, adjustable flanges or union fittings make it easy to connect to most process systems, reducing installation time and cost. Vertical installation is also an option with IEC motor frames.
Typical applications for these new models include chemical transfer and processing, electroplating, water & waste water transfer, circuit board manufacture and pharmaceuticals.

ambient temperature, virtually eliminating costly maintenance and producing minimal lifetime costs.
Scott Cauchi, Dialight Vice President of Sales, commented, “Our bulkhead LED luminaires are already the preferred choice for many mining and industrial sites worldwide. The new VigilantTM Bulkhead luminaire now extends the potential applications even further from general plant lighting to all kinds of walkway and roadway lighting and we’re already receiving very positive feedback.”
The new VigilantTM Bulkhead is available to order now.
