CA R ING FOR OUR CA R E R S ALLEN BROWN - RAINBOW PENDANT
During April Allen Brown Jewellery based at Heart Of the Country Shopping Village, Swinfen, started a competition where an NHS hero or keyworker could be nominated to win a beautiful bespoke 18ct white gold sapphire pendant, manufactured on site the pendant contains 1.44ct of red, orange, yellow, green and blue sapphires.
With over 100 nominations all with wonderful reasons as to why they had been nominated it was obvious that the prize was going to a worthy home.
The lucky winner, picked at random was Elaine Hutchings, she had been nominated by Mark Johnson for all the amazing work Elaine and her team of volunteers have been doing during lockdown. Elaine initially started the group “Helping Each Other - Lichfield and Surrounding Areas” as a platform to share information during the crisis. But it soon became clear to Elaine that there was an urgent need in the community. Since March, Elaine and her team of 25 volunteers have provided in excess of 2000 food parcels at a cost of £84,000 and delivered on average 300 prescriptions on a weekly basis, 6 days a week. They also undertake a minimum of 20 to 25 shopping orders per week.
Allen Brown Jewellery were delighted to present Elaine with her rainbow pendant and the words from Allen below echo how she is a worthy winner of the prize.

“Fate was obviously at hand when Elaine was chosen randomly out of the draw. Elaine is such a worthy winner and I am delighted if in some small way this helps to show the appreciation and admiration
that I and many in the community feel for her selfless hard work and that of ‘Helping each other’ thank you”
Elaine has also decided to keep the group going indefinitely to help with the needs of the community. On winning the pendant Elaine said, “This rainbow pendant will always be a reminder to me of how people came together during such a difficult time.”

LOVE YOUR POSTCODE GIVING IS A PART OF THE STORY
On 15th March when when most businesses were winding down for a complete lockdown there was one that was getting ready to give back, without any conditions.
“It’s not often that you have the opportunity of helping those that that are helping others.” Said Bobby Singh. Esq of Performance&™ . “This was not a time to question or doubt your judgment. One helps without expecting anything in return because it’s the right thing to do, if you can do it.”
The team strategy was not just to provide free accommodation to frontline workers but also inspire others across the country to do the same. In helping the frontline with free properties they were able to assist staff with resting better, isolating, protecting loved ones and shortening the commute to work.
A team of ten staff were involved in the mechanics of cleaning, preparing and lightly vetting hundreds of weekly applications. More than half of the team were to go on to contract mild COVID-19 symptoms in delivering this work.
It was not long before news started breaking of paramedics being evicted from co shared properties, a hospital porter sleeping in car and doctors working 60 hour weeks to cope with the spike. People were panicking and irrational decisions were leaving many key workers homeless.
Due to the enormity of the task in hand, this was not an exercise that Love Your Postcode wished to own or control. If they truly wanted it to go further it had to belong to everyone that was #humankind.Within a week positive news to combat the negative news stories started spreading on social media, TV, radio and worldwide BBC news. Thousands of landlords across the country and companies joined the positive movement.
“We had succeeded in bringing a positive and much loved approach during some testing times. Today there are over 1,300 members in the ‘Free NHS Apartments Group’ on Facebook, the stories have been shared by millions and countless have benefitted with a community led approach of being homed for as long as possible for free.” Advised Asif Kola head of new home sales.
Giving and helping is part of the success story at the multi-award winning Love Your Postcode ® property group.
