Little Red Truck

In 1978 Car and Driver magazine determined that the Little Red Express Truck was the quickest North American built production vehicle. Nothing that North America had to offer in 1978 went down the drag strip quicker than a truck with wood on the box sides and chrome smoke stacks. It even beat the Corvette. Li’l Red’s were only available in 1978 & 1979 with the easiest identifiable dif- ferentiation being round headlights verses square headlights for 1979, and yes, these trucks actually came from the factory with the big door decal, the chrome wheels, the smoke stacks and the wood on the box sides. This Li’l Red Truck belongs to Scott Frank and his step son Cameron T. St-Jacques and although its perfectly drivable, it’s also a bit of a father/son project truck to be improved slowly as time permits. If they get in a hurry it’s ready for that as well with its freshly rebuilt 455 horsepower 440 engine. Story and photos by Marty Mayer.
