Holistic Dentist Seeing Emergency Patients in New Office
J
oan Sefcik, DDS, a holistic dentist in Austin, has opened a new offi ce at 8229 Shoal Creek
Boulevard and is currently seeing patients on an emergency-only basis during the COVID-19 stay-at-home order. Before the order, Sefcik and her staff treated each patient universally according to standard safety practices and con- tinues to do so during the crisis. Holistic, or biological dentistry, understands that what hap-

pens in the mouth aff ects the whole body. Materials are used that are compatible to the individual, which is determined through testing. Toxic materials such as mercury or nickel, are removed and fl uoride is not used. T e teeth relate to diff erent organs in the body and treatment is adjusted to support the areas of the body that are aff ected. Sefcik’s new state-of-the-art offi ce has views of Shoal Creek
from each patient room and was only open for a few days before the stay-at-home mandate was ordered by city offi cials. Patients in need of an emergency dental procedure and who want to be treated holistically are encouraged to call.

inda Isaacs, M.D., is continuing to treat patients remotely via telemedicine and phone
calls during the coronavirus crisis. Her practice, which determines nutritional protocols for people with cancer autoimmune disease or other degen- erative disease, treats patients across the country. Although her method of interacting with
patients has not changed much with the pan- demic, she saw a opportunity to educate people about what she does fall by the wayside as the coronavirus swept the nation. In March, Isaacs was featured in a Hay House Production docuse- ries called “Radical Remission: Healing Against All Odds.” T e series reported on patients who had had a radical remis-
sion—healing from a life-threatening disease without conven- tional medicine or aſt er conventional medicine failed or using conventional and alternative methods at the same time in order to overcome a very dire prognosis. Isaacs’ segment focused on one of her patients who was a long-term survivor of poor prog- nosis pancreatic cancer. Although the series was well produced and promoted, many who would have watched it were distracted by world events and their own lives being disrupted. T e docuseries can be purchased for streaming on the Hay
House website.

New Yoga Studio Prepares for Life After COVID-19
M
y Vinyasa Practice, a new yoga studio opening in the Austin Community
College Highland neighborhood, has seen its offi cial opening delayed because of COVID-19, but has taken that opportunity to prepare the brick-and-mortar space for clients, making adaptions to the space, including making everything touchless, from toilets, to sinks, hand sanitizers and light switches. During the stay-at-home mandate, clients can drop into live-
stream yoga classes. T e studio is trying to help keep as many teach- ers working as possible during this time, and 100% of the proceeds from live-stream classes go to the teacher who taught the class. Currently, My Vinyasa Practice is off ering a 50 percent dis-
count on all trainings when paid in full. T e studio is also off er- ing a wide variety of live-stream virtual classes—the full schedule can be found on the website. To help teachers who have been hit hard by the COVID-19
pandemic, 100 percent of the proceeds from continuing educa- tion courses goes toward a relief fund. T eir goal is to continue along the path of upliſt ing collective consciousness, and they want to do that in any way possible, whether that means off er- ing aff ordable trainings and live-stream classes or helping their teachers through COVID-19 relief fundraising.
