letter from publisher A Global Awakening
T e world is about to experience a massive global awakening. For the past several years, Mother Earth has been screaming at us to wake up. With rising temperatures, devastating fi res, unprecedented weather events, threats of mass extinction and now, a global pandemic, are we ready to listen? Yes, I think we are. T ere is an opportunity for
growth even in the direst of times. When forced to evaluate our consumption habits, we might see that purchasing dry goods, rather than packaged goods, puts
more food in our pantries for longer periods of time, with less landfi ll waste. When our movement is restricted, we see that it’s wise to eliminate unnecessary trips. All over the planet, we are seeing the benefi ts of slowed-down consumption—in reduced carbon output, cleaner waterways and cleaner air in the most polluted cities. T rough this time, we will also rediscover ways to be with and support each other
that we have previously lost. Families are spending time together, neighbors are reaching out to neighbors, friends are checking on friends and acquaintances who are vulnerable. We’re using social networks to have virtual parties, practitioners are creatively off ering their services via Zoom or FaceTime, and more people than ever are working remotely from home. T is is all good, and necessary, and timely. We will get through this. Together. For 26 years, Natural Awakenings has been informing and inspiring readers across
the country about natural health, living sustainably and promoting healing for the body, mind and spirit. T rough this challenging time, we will remain a vital and critical publication for sharing resources that address stress, anxiety, depression, health, well- being and nutrition. T is is our promise to you.
Please stay well, dear readers.
