Katie chatted to Jeremy about the business;
“The business was started 37 years ago by my brother Peter, who sadly passed away two years ago after bravely fighting Leukemia for 20 years. I now run the business alongside my brother’s son, Ben.”
Midfurn has gone from strength to strength and despite Brexit fears and worries about the British economy, they’ve enjoying a great year so far.
Peter was a furniture buyer for retail chain Texas Homecare when he decided to make the brave move of starting his own business. His first shop was in Leamington, which was very successful, so-much-so that Peter asked Jeremy, then 17 to join him. From Leamington they moved to Alcester, to a not-so luxurious building which was equally successful, but when the opportunity to move to their existing premises came up, Peter and Jeremy jumped at the chance.
Asked how the business has evolved, Jeremy explains; “Over the years we moved towards more high-end furniture, superb quality from the best brand names in the industry. Upstairs the showroom is very modern with lovely displays of beautifully made Calligaris and Natuzzi Italia furnishings. Natuzzi is very unique, we’re proud to be the only stockist in the West Midlands. It’s also home to our Stressless Studio, renowned for its comfortable leather seating. We stock some fabulous and different products that you just don’t see in the likes of Furniture Village or DFS. We have exclusive products, such as Hastens beds and Vispring beds, considered to be one of the best in the world.”
It’s not just the products that set them apart from other stores; “We’re also incredibly knowledgeable, we know what we’re talking about and absolutely love the business. Excellent customer service is key. We offer a white glove delivery service, so we unwrap, unpack, fully install and take any rubbish away. It’s backed by excellent aftercare also. It’s important to us that our customers are happy with everything - we want themto come back again.”
