Welcome to issue four of The Vintage Scene. It’s been a tough task to find reports for this issue due to so many events being cancelled. Photographer Kenny Wharton has been out and about though, supplying us with some stunning photos; front and back covers of this issue! The

Welcome!

front cover picture is of Beauty and Prince (owned by John Taylor) taken at the Don Woodhouse Memorial Ploughing Match. The back cover is of Colin Hewetson ploughing his winning plot at the Ferryhill Ploughing Match.

In this issue we have another interesting restoration article from The Ferguson Club’s John Selley. B H Leake & Sons talk us through rubber covering of wheels on steam engines. We have a lovely article by Alan Porter about how a young enthusiast acquired his first steam engine. We meet Belle, the Belgian Draſt who brings traditional horsepower back to the Cotswolds. As well as all this, we have hundreds of event dates and some event previews.

We have been very lucky to secure a Vintage Scene reader offer - 20% DISCOUNT on any orders from Old Pond Publishing. Simply visit their website www.oldpond.com and enter VS20 in the promo code box. Offer ends 31st May 2020. If you are a fan of Old Pond products, be sure to check out page 31 and enter our competition to win books and a DVD.

If you have a vintage story to tell, please don’t be shy; we’d love to hear from you! We are always on the look out for event reports, old farming pictures and stories, old character stories and restoration projects. Drop me an email at h.dodd@vintagescene.co.uk if you would like to contribute.

See you in May. Heather Contents
