Ceradyne, a 3M company manufactures fused silica flours and grains at its 3M Midway location in Tennessee. At the Midway location, Ceradyne has a research group that focuses on the Investment Casting application. They developed WDS, the first Engineered Shell System; HP polymer and WDS 3 and Gray Matter 2. Ceradyne is a distributor of Nalco colloidal silica, Continental Minerals zircon and Christy Minerals alumino-silicates. Ceradyne supplies fused silica direct; and also distributes through Nalco and on the West Coast through Westech.
