TEXAS TRAIL CHALLENGE CLUB By Jean Wilson
Texas Trail Challenge Club hosted 20 trail competitions over 11 weekends during
the 2019 season. Rides were held all over Texas, ranging north to the LBJ Grasslands, east to Tarrant Ranch in Bullard, south past San Antonio to the Smith Ranch in Three Rivers, west to a private ranch in El Dorado, and many points in between. In addition, the club hosted two clinics and one picnic. The grand finale was the dinner and awards Celebration held on January 25, 2020, on the west side of Parrie Haynes Ranch. Champion Horseman for 2019 was awarded to Mary Marczak and Reserve Cham-
pion Horseman was awarded to Lissa Rabon. Kelly Beard won High Point Maverick and Reserve High Point Maverick was Cindy Leatherwood. Tracee Casarez earned High Point Tenderfoot and Reserve High Point Tenderfoot was Yvonne Johnson. Beth Nelson won the Jennifer Severson award for most improved Maverick. Carla
Chandler won the Sandra Ladd award for most improved Tenderfoot. Other awards and prizes were announced first through sixth place for Junior, Tenderfoot Adult, Ten- derfoot Senior, Maverick Adult, Maverick Senior, Horseman Adult, and Horseman Senior categories. Four riders Greg Dial, Jerilyn Stanka, Jean Wilson, and Liz Wimberly earned the
Iron Rider award for riding, judging, or volunteering at every ride during the year. Lau- rie Oehlerking won the Wrangler Team award for an experienced rider with a green horse. There were also honors for horses in three age categories. Jeff Wimberly was awarded the title most valuable volunteer for 2019. In addition,
gifts were presented to judges, secretaries, ride hosts, sponsors, volunteers, the web- master, committee members, and the Board of Directors. Some of the prizes awarded included belt buckles, embroidered vests and jackets,
trophies, saddle covers, pendants, bridle buckles, horse sheets, and hay bale covers. If you enjoy trail riding and building a better relationship with your horse, then
