Jeff Smith Productions’ Super Bowl, held December 27-29 at Lazy E
Arena, Guthrie, OK, featured long hours of roping and distributed over $200K in prizes and payouts! Division winners included #8.5 (Connor McNair/Zac Sweeten/32.0-on-4), #9.5 (Jaxon Stoker/Kenneth Payne/32.14-on-4), 9.5- Warm-Up (Jaxon Stoker/Mark Keimig/40.09-on-4), #10.5 (Brandon Abney/Austin Lampe/36.3-on-4), #11.5 (Landon Koehn/Mark Keimig/37.62-on-4), #13.5 (Chase Runge/Nicholas Lovins/32.5-on-4), and #15.5 (Landon Glenn/Jake Cooper Clay/30.64-on-4).
The Lazy J Saddle Series Penning & Sorting New Years Blast, held
December 28-29 at Lazy J Arena, Stillwater, OK, paid out lots of money and provided lots of fun! Wayne Amos got a trophy buckle as circuit champ for $750 Novice Rider. Beautiful trophy shotguns were awarded to Tommy Mar- vin (high-$-earning trainer), Michael Townsend (high-$-earning np), and Samantha Cajka (high-$-earning jackpot rider). The third show of the series will be held March 6-7.
MidTex QHA’s December 28-29 ranch horse show, held at Bell
County Expo, Belton, offered great competition, fantastic awards, (includ- ing money!), and a delicious fiesta dinner! High-point Ranch Horse champi- ons included Susan Crews Morris (NP) and Liz Truax (Open).
United States CHA hosted its national finals show December 28-30
at Hopkins Co Regional Civic Center, Sulphur Springs. The show featured approximately 300 runs in 3 days of qualified finalist riding in all levels. Youth Shootout champions wee Jake Lee Morris (Jr) and Anna Marie Schreck (Sr). The awards banquet on the 30th included lots of prizes and recognition: Kyle Cox was Rider of the Year, Lauren Szalach was Rookie of the Year, and Laney Bell’s Mammas Too Smooth was Horse of the Year. Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Gehring were Owners of the Year, with Purrrfect (Res Open), Smooth Travalin Cat (Res-$15K-NH), Hot Sheila, and Reyning Checks. Kyle Cox and Charlie Ashcraft were inducted into the Riders Hall of Fame, and Richard Irby into the Non-Pro Riders Hall of Fame. Weekend
