Lynn Princess Lynn Princess repowered with Doosan Main engine and D-I Gearbox.
Watermota were contacted by Steven Williamson of Lynn Shellfish with collaboration from Jim Dean of JD Marine Bridlington to supply the main engine, gearbox, auxiliary engine and 45kVA genset for the vessel that was scheduled to under go a refit.
Doosan was the choice for the main and auxiliary engines due to the engines proven reliability, operational performance and fuel consumption, coupled with the level of support available to the brand.
Watermota sourced a JCB 45kVA genset with deep sea panel to ensure the product meet all the customer requirements without compromise.
Specification:
• 1 x Doosan MD196TI Engine 235kW @ 2000rpm (DERATED TO 193kW); • 1 x D-I DMT144H 2.51:1 Gearboxes; • 1 x Doosan L136T 147kW @ 2200rpm for auxiliary power.

Jenkins Marine Responds to Stricken Yacht
Jenkins Marine recently received a call at 4am from the skipper of a 41m sailing yacht that had lost power (it was later discovered it had net caught in its prop). As there was no wind she could not return to port under her own steam. Thankfully the conditions were ok so we mobilised the tug ‘Polmear’ with crew to meet her near Bournemouth Pier within a few hours of receiving the call.
Motor Tug POLMEAR is a twin-screw tug, certificated under the MCA Workboat Code of Practice for operation up to 60 miles offshore. She normally provides towage and survey works throughout the UK and her powerful 880 hp engines combined with a very experienced crew enabled her to find and safely return the stricken yacht to Ocean Village in Southampton.
