Q What are the top three issues that you will address


in your first year as the ASC QC executive director? AS: 1. I will look at the QC from a more strategic standpoint and take a step back to see what we really want to accomplish. I would like to see this as an opportunity to expand the ASC QC and help people understand our pas- sion for demonstrating the high qual- ity of care ASCs deliver.


2. I will look at the way we are report- ing the quality metrics and publiciz- ing them on our website. Right now, it is a very manual process and we


would like to utilize technology to make it a more robust process. We have created a subset of the ASC Technical Committee to serve on our Information Technology (IT) Com- mittee that is in the process of get- ting Requests for Information out to IT companies to help us with these platforms which, eventually, will enable us to track our quality data by specialty. The ultimate goal would be to have a platform where the inde- pendent centers could also enter their data so that we have a greater partic- ipation across the industry.


3. I will have more face-to-face con- versations with the management com- panies that make up the QC to ensure we are meeting their needs from a more


strategic perspective. I also will begin work with the commercial payers and share our results of high-quality care that we deliver in the ASC space. Get- ting them involved will help drive more cases to the ASC industry.


Q Where do you see the ASC QC going forward?


AS: Once a stronger platform is created to track our quality measures, it will allow us to share our story of the high value we provide, without compromis- ing quality, and the enhanced patient experience we offer. This will increase our visibility in the healthcare industry and help make us the correct site of ser- vice for outpatient procedures.
