National Cutting Horse Association’s annual judging

hosted Run for The Saddles & Buckles competition De- cember 7 at the church’s arena in Bryan. Five saddles were given in the Open 5D competition, one each to Elizabeth Sbr- usch (1D/Hot French Lady/16.171), Stacy Walther (2D/Jet- terbuggin Attha Bar/16.712), Sage Pyle (3D/Highjacket Profit/17.212), Sharon McCallum (4D/Playboys Re- venge/17.677), and Melisa Hill (5D/Tator Tot/18.171).

Southwest QHA hosted its annual banquet and con-
vention at Grapevine Plaza, Las Cruces, NM, December 7. Natalie Baca was both open and amateur high-point cham- pion with SS Smokin Z06, and Kyra Bowker was overall youth high-point champ with Dress Western. Other HPs in- cluded Kadens Koenig (Lvl-1-Y/Invest In A Sign), Sharon McClain (WT-Am/Sure To Skip), and Sierra Rogler (WT- Y/An Absolute Custom). Evan Hall was awarded the associ- ation’s scholarship. 2019 SWQHA Futurity winners recognized include One Shotgun Chex (Leading Sire), Hugh Trotter (Premier-Owner), and Katie Reid (Top-Exhibitor). 2020 next shows: January 18-19 and February 15-16.

The Dressage in the Hill Country Holiday Classic, held
December 7-8 at Dripping Springs Ranch Park, featured en- thusiastic riders, beautiful horses, perfect weather, outstanding judges and the blending of a wonderful horse show family coming together for a magical weekend of doing what they all love with these amazing and sometimes complicated equines! When dust settled, show series champions were Jewel New (Jr/Zan Reminic), Rebecca Wallace (Sr/I’ll Be Your Huckle- berry), and Laura Robinson (Open /CR Gersemi).
National Cutting Horse Association hosted a Western
Heritage Evening December 11, at Fort Worth’s new Dickies Arena. Clips from the upcoming film, The Cut, The Story of America’s Greatest Horse,” were shared, making many ea- gerly anticipate viewing the entirety in the coming year. Tay- lor Sheridan, creator and co-producer of the hit television show, Yellowstone, had donated a cameo for anyone and their horse during the next season of the series, and that cameo was auctioned off to benefit the NCHA Foundation. High-bid was $165,000, from Bobby Patton of Rocking P Ranch. The evening’s main event was the unveiling of the epic-propor- tioned Wester Heritage bronze statue by sculptor Kelly Gra-
