Technology news Ground breaking projection from ViewSonic

Tony White, Country Head UK and Ireland of ViewSonic, explains the latest developments in the evolution of ViewSonic. It’s important to remember that the company was only founded in 1987, but the latest evolution in projector portfolio marks revolution in the design and ca- pabilities of the ViewSonic projection range.

With its latest clutch of an- nouncements, ViewSonic has nailed its colours to the LED mast. Not only does the tech- nology offer users a much lon- ger lifecycle than they might be used too, but that lifecycle is maintenance free. The tech- nology is eco-friendly, and the projected image is far superior with very little degradation and much less noise than usual. Design and formats have also been subject to innovation. “We have introduced some models with a built--in soundbar, cre- ating a one-piece solution with high quality visuals and audio,” explains White. Another benefit to be derived from LED light- sources is that the perceived brightness of LED models is brighter. The M1, for example. is a little more than a fag pack- et in size, but, from a sample given to AV News, we can con- firm that both the quality of the projected image and the audio available from the tiny unit is impressive.

Personal projectors

Further up the range, the View- Sonic M1+ is an ultra-portable WVGA LED projector. With a built-in battery and over 30,000 hours of operational life, this projector will deliver years of multimedia entertain- ment. Weighing less than two pounds, the M1+’s compact and lightweight design makes it ideal for moving from room to room, or for indoor / outdoor usage.

Like the M1, the integrated smart stand of the M1+ pro- vides for simple 360-degree setup, while also doubling as a lens cover. Once the lens is uncovered, the projector auto- matically powers on with full brightness. The lens also in-

cludes a safety auto-off feature that powers down the projector when objects are detected too close to the lens. Dual Harman Kardon Bluetooth speakers provide crisp and clear sound for multimedia content, while a short throw lens can display large images in small spaces. Versatile connectivity options include a MicroSD card slot, USB Type-A and USB Type-C. Integrated

nectivity lets users stream and binge from favourite

providers like Netflix and You- Tube – making the M1+ a great option for sharing and display- ing videos and other multime- dia content.

The next model up the range has crossover potential for business users on the go. The ViewSonic M2 portable Full HD LED projector offer pow- er and performance in a por- table package. Compact and lightweight, the ViewSonic M2 can be carried into the office or slipped into a briefcase or backpack and taken on the road. For convenient presen- tations and content sharing, a wireless screen mirroring fea- ture allows users to easily cast content from a mobile device to the projector.

The M2 projector features a shorter throw lens that can display large images in small spaces, while its LED light source provides over 30,000 hours of usage time and 1,200 lumens of brightness. An ad- justable kickstand design de- livers simple and quick setup for easy projection in nearly any environment. An integrat- ed Micro SD card slot and USB Type-A reader port allow users to display documents, videos, and other multimedia without having to connect to a PC. And for fast data, audio, video, and

charging over a single cable, there’s a USB Type-C port. Dual Harman Kardon speakers deliv- er room-filling sound.

Mainstream

In the mainstream or office projector category, ViewSon- ic has created the W Series of LED projectors. The

try-level X10-4K has a RGBB LED engine with an output of

XPR technology that pixel-shifts a 1080p image four ways to achieve the 4K picture. The new second-generation chip limits the dark band around the projected image, evident with the first-generation chip. For a straight-on image, the X10-4K works best on a shelf that plac- es the lens a little above the bottom of the screen.

The two Harman Kardon speakers (each on one side) can be connected via Blue- tooth to use the X10 as a sound system for your mobile device. Pairing is quick and easy, and while in Bluetooth mode the projector light shuts off. A Wi-Fi dongle that allows users to connect to a wireless network, with the Wi-Fi con- nectivity and built-in speakers, the X10-4K is designed to be a complete mobile solution. To that end, there's a carrying handle on the back for easy transport. This causes the lens to face downward while carry- ing. The handle itself is secure and folds away. There's a styl-

navigation. There are different sets of menus; Basic and Ad- vanced settings on the Home screen, and image setting and advanced popups for each in- put.

Upcoming

There are further new models from ViewSonic in the pipeline and scheduled for release in Q1 2020. Of these, the X100- 4K Smart 4K Ultra HD, LED Home Entertainment Projector tuned by Harman Kardon and smart TV with Alexa Support. This has similar styling to the X10, but the real ground-break- er promises to be the forth- coming X1000 – incorporating

(LED lumens is a manufacturer's estimate of an equivalent ANSI lumen specification that accounts for the fact that LED light is per- ceived to be brighter than what industry-standard ANSI lumen measurements suggest). The X10-4K uses a sec- ond-generation 0.47-inch Tex- as Instruments DLP chip with

to angle the lens up (by 15 or 30 percent) if the projector is placed on a lower table below the screen. Keystone adjust- ment and focus both have auto settings to set up the image once the projector is placed. The projector lens has a throw ratio of 0.8 and a throw dis- tance range of 1.6 to 11.5 feet. New range-topper from Clevertouch

The Clevertouch Pro UX was previewed at Sahara’s recent technology showcase and part- ner event. The design princi- ples underlying the design of the device make the point that: “Great technology isn’t about pixels and power. It’s about what it can enable the user to do.” Using High Precision technology for pinpoint accu- racy, the powerful UX Pro from Clevertouch also offers a com- plete UC platform to facilitate global meeting requirements. It’s more than a touch screen - it’s a full communications suite.

The Clevertouch argument runs, successful communica- tions result in better engaged audiences – no matter where they are. 54% of all meetings host remote participants and so the software and hardware used has to allow them to par- ticipate and be integrated ef- fectively. UX Pro provides flex- ibility of in-office and remote

meeting solutions, allowing for seamless integration with UC platforms such as Stage, Mic- rosoft Teams and Zoom. Shaun Marklew, Group Sales & Product Director at Clever- touch says: “We’ve listened to what users want and created the best communications solu- tion for them. Designed for the ultimate user experience, UX Pro uses technology to enhance performance and productivity for all organisations, no matter their size, location, or opera- tions. Flexibility is at its core, and with the ongoing support from Clevertouch, it really does offer a lifelong solution.” Users can assign NFC cards to a team so they can quickly log- in and access their files, set- tings and cloud accounts. They can work anywhere, on any file source, at any time. Files and applications can be shared seamlessly, allowing for a fully integrated setup that is ready to work in the way you need it to.
