London Metropolitan University installs new Interpreting Suite

Conference Interpreting students at the London Metropolitan Univer- sity are enjoying a new state-of-the-art interpreting suite thanks to the expertise of buk Solutions, audio-visual integrator Reflex and the University’s Information and Technology Services (ITS) team.

London Metropolitan Univer- sity, which runs a portfolio of interpreting courses (MA Con- ference Interpreting/MA In- terpreting and short courses), named the Suite after Micha- lina Ageros, in honour of the influential London Met inter- preting lecturer. The University invited her to officially open the Suite, along with its Dep-

sionals. Across all venues, Da- vid Lloyd Clubs feature over 180 swimming pools and offer more than 13,000 exercise classes every week.

Looking to conquer the de- mand for HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) and the ex- plosion of boutique-studios, the fitness giant met the trend head on with the creation of 'Blaze.' Housed in its pur- pose-built studio, the stand- alone instructor-led facility combines cardiovascular train- ing with strength, boxing and martial arts skills to give an in- tense workout.

The Challenge

Available in 54 sites (with more being added throughout 2019 and beyond), David Lloyd Clubs required an innovative, premi- um quality Europe-wide display solution in order to create a unique, more immersive and personalised experience for members during classes, whilst also maximising new marketing and engagement opportunities to

display relevant class content, motivational messaging and personalised performance data for members using Myzone heart-rate belts.

In addition, Philips’ 43” Full HD Android powered BDL4330QL Q-Line displays were installed in the studios to provide personalised content for members during workouts. Outside of each studio and around David Lloyd Clubs, 55” Full HD, Philips BDL4050D D-Line displays have been stra- tegically placed in order to help market Blaze to other guests.

IDNS redevelops Centre for Reconstructive Surgery

IDNS have completed a major redevelopment of the Charles Wolfson Centre for Reconstructive Surgery at the Royal Free Hospital. Devel- oped in collaboration with the world-renowned surgeon Professor Peter Butler.

The project was will expand re- search in developing new treat- ments in reconstructive sur- gery, using the most up-to-date facilities and best equipment. Using AJA Rovocam Ultra HD cameras with 12x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom delivered on medical grade Ergo mount articulated arms, IDNS provid- ed a collaboration solution that included NEC 75” LCD wall mounted screens, Crestron control systems and Top Tech teaching stations.

The cutting-edge facilities allow the surgeon to provide a 360-degree view of the re- constructive work being com-

pleted and share it with up to 60 students in 4K. The new reconstructive surgery brings together innovative surgical techniques and exploitation of recent scientific research to narrow the gap between pure science and clinical practice. It also establishes the qual- ifications and career paths of future generations of surgeons and research leaders as Robert O’Reilly, Senior Project Manag- er, explains: “This is one of the most advanced facilities in the UK purely dedicated to recon- structive surgery. It was great to work with IDNS on this proj- ect, when we were faced with

areas that weren’t anticipated the team at IDNS came up with solutions that allowed us to work around these challenges.” Darren Clayman, Managing Director at IDNS said: “The Charles Wolfson Centre is a world-class facility that gives future generations access to the best technology. This is a fantastic project for IDNS, par- ticularly as we continue to grow our healthcare portfolio as part of the NHS Shared Business Framework.”
