This investment casting for the electronics industry is a silicon brass antenna dipole featuring 1/ 16 walls and 93 micro-inch finish. The center rod is concentric with the O.D. within .005. This is a good example where a one piece investment casting resulted in a better functional component than the brazed assembly which was originally contemplated.


Stainless steel type 304 valve body is used as part of the control mechanism of a high production milk carton filling machine. The casting must be capable of taking a high polish, free of pits or blem- ishes in order to meet pure food law requirements for low bacterial count. Weight of part is 2% lbs., overall length 6 inches.


Ruggedness and reliability have long been associated with the men and equipment for the oil field industry. This hydraulic cylinder is typical of the heavy-duty performance required by the oil equipment manufacturers. The casting is over 18 inches long and weighs over 14 lbs. It is produced in 17-4 PH stainless steel and heat-treated to 180,000 psi hydraulic pressure at which it operates.


The casting is used as part of an assembly for making oil well drilling surveys.
