Charity Christmas Card Shop opens in Woodbridge

THE traditional Charity Christmas

Card Shop in

Woodbridge opens at St Mary's Church Centre, 11 Market Hill, Woodbridge IP12 4LP, on Monday 28th October. The shop is organised by

Woodbridge 41Club, and proceeds are used to support local charities and other good causes.

The 41 Club organiser, Roger Parker commented, “Once again we have a fabulous range of Charity Christmas cards. Our card sales provide valuable income to a range of local and national charities. We are very grateful to St Mary’s Church for allowing us to use space in their Centre and we look forward to welcoming regular and new

customers into our shop. I wish to thank all the local people who help in the shop and make it such a success.”

The shop stocks the largest selection of Charity cards in Suffolk from over 20 different charities. This includes favourites such as RNLI, Marie Curie Cancer, Barnardos, Blue Cross and Amnesty. Additional local charities include St Elizabeth Hospice, East Anglian Children’s Hospices, Somersham Ward, East Anglian Air Ambulance and Suffolk Wildlife Trust.

The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm, (9.30am to 5pm on Saturday). Please do visit – you won’t find a better selection!

Inner Wheel Club of Woodbridge

our October supper meeting, President Chris Mason welcomed our special guest Sue Verow who talked about her ‘Life in Health Care’ and what a career it was, and still is (!) embracing the NHS, the Military as a senior officer in the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corps, the Private sector, work with statutory health care bodies, and latterly with the Royal British Legion in Suffolk. Sue declared at the outset that none of her career was ‘planned’, it just ‘happened’, but surely there can’t be many people who have had such a breadth and depth of experience, not least of the way nursing has changed over a 50 year period. Her talk was truly absorbing, and Sue was warmly thanked by Anne White on behalf of us all.

Later this month we look forward to being the Host Club for

an Inner Wheel District

Rally, an opportunity for members of 14 Inner Wheel Clubs to get together for an enjoyable day.

In addition to our social activities, our Club is now geared up for a busy Inner Wheel year supporting a range of local, regional, national and international charities, both on our own account -

Chris’s chosen charities for this year are “Over the Rainbow” and The Eve Appeal and in support of the two local Rotary Clubs. Two key dates in the calendar for 2020 are our Quiz Evening on February 28th, and a Fashion Show on April 6th. For more information about our Club, please do visit our website woodbridgeinnerwheel.

NEW Horizons, the club for active

area, continues to grow and thrive. We really do need extra volunteer leaders to help out with the occasional Monday and/or

Thursday sessions,

however. There are always two leaders present and you are well supported by other volunteers. Tasks would include

the register, collecting the daily fees and generally over- seeing the day’s activities. Full training would be provided.
