Dales Marine Apprentice, Greg Brimner – Winner of Tullos Training ‘Best Fabrication & Welding Apprentice 2019’
Greg Brimner, Welding and Fabrication Apprentice at Dales Marine Services, has successfully completed the first-year of his modern apprenticeship based at the company’s Aberdeen facility. In parallel with his on-site company training, Dales Marine sponsor Greg through a 4-year training programme at Tullos Training, Aberdeen. On completion of his training Greg is aiming to be the latest in a long line of Dales Marine Employees that have completed their Scottish Modern Apprenticeship with the company.
At Tullos Training, welding & fabrication apprenticeships include learning how to bend, form and join thick plate sheet metal and pipework, and learning use of electrical and oxy fuel welding techniques. Greg has enjoyed his first-year apprenticeship and
now proudly marks the occasion by being awarded Tullos Training’s ‘Best Fabrication & Welding Apprentice 2019’.
Greg is pictured here receiving his award from Jim Booth – Training Executive with Tullos Training, and with Michael Milne – Managing Director of Dales Marine Services receiving the Company’s certificate award. Michael is delighted for Greg, and congratulates his achievement.
This of course is further demonstration of how Dales Marine Services value their highly skilled workforce, and are demonstrating their desire to develop and maintain this strength through an impressive intake of 29 apprentices during 2019. This intake consisting of engineers, fabricators, and welders across the Company’s operations at Aberdeen, Leith, and Greenock, plus a pipefitter and electrician further boosting the Greenock apprentice intake. Mark Massie, HR/QHSE Manager, who has been managing the Company’s 2019 apprentice recruitment
programme says, “Greg’s success has set the standard for the Company’s newly appointed first year apprentices.”
Greg’s parents are equally proud, and it is pleasing for all his family that Greg’s brother Dean is also an employee of Dales Marine Services. Greg’s recent award comes as no real surprise to Greg’s family, friends, or colleagues as Greg has a history of achievement – practising karate since he was 6 years old, aspiring to Black Belt, and is a former Scottish Junior Karate Champion.
