of peace, strength, and freedom. We often talk to ourselves in a way that we wouldn’t speak to others. Our words cause stress
W
and anxiety – emotions that aren’t always healthy for us. Our words often come from a place of fear and false beliefs, not au- thenticity. At BYODestiny, we help you fi nd your authenticity and your best place to be in this world. Emotions drive our thoughts and behavior, but by using emotional intelligence competencies, you have the power and choice to manage what you think, and therefore, where you “live”.
Join us for our Emotional Self-Care Retreat at Enders Island, CT on October 5th from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm, as we lead you in under- standing how to use your emotions as information. You will begin to develop strategies for building positive self-talk and self-acceptance. Learn to care for yourself the way you deserve to be cared for, while enjoying the quiet beauty and tranquility of Enders Island (off Mystic). Recognizing the origin of your thoughts brings about awareness and with awareness comes the power to change. Retreatants will learn what emotions are, how they affect our thoughts, and how to stop the negativity and emotional hijack we all face.

Free Yourself from Chronic Pain
hronic pain starts as physical pain but then cascades into sleep issues, which then increases stress and then potentially leads to depression. Imagine Float, greater Hartford’s fi rst and
C
only wellness center that offers four non-invasive therapies, can help you manage your pain and improve your quality of life.
Floatation Therapy consists of 10 inches of water and 1,100 pounds of Epsom salt. You fl oat effortlessly on the surface of 94-de- gree temperature water. In each cabin, a soft LED light is offered and/ or meditative music. Floating, also known as Reduced Environmental Stimulation Therapy (R.E.S.T.) allows the spine to decompress thereby relieving back, neck and other body aches, tension and pain. The magnesium found in the Epsom salt will also assist in improved sleep patterns, infl ammatory relief, a reduction in headaches, stress, depres- sion and anxiety.
Whole Body Cryotherapy was developed in 1970 by Dr. Yamau-
chi in Japan for rheumatoid arthritis. For the past 30 years, people have used cryotherapy for pain management, infl ammation, and athletic re- covery. In a three-minute session which “lowers the skin temperature, it causes your nervous system to fi re, constricts blood vessels, reduces infl ammation, and sends blood back to your core for re-oxygenation.”
Infrared saunas have proven benefi ts in treating sports injuries,
chronic fatigue, fi bromyalgia, arthritis and other chronic conditions. Infrared saunas penetrate joints, muscles and tissues, increase circula- tion and speed oxygen fl ow. By reducing soreness on nerve endings, the infrared heat reduces muscle spasms and helps the body heal itself naturally.
Compression therapy was developed in 1998 by a Rehabilita-
tion Physician and Ph.D. bioengineer, Dr. Laura F. Jacobs, to promote blood circulation in patients whose circulation was compromised. The dynamic compression rapidly enhances range of motion and reduces muscle spasm and tension.
Imagine Float can be found at 290 West Main Street/Route 44 (next to The Perfect Toy) in Avon, CT. For more information, go to imaginefl
