immediately greeted by “pretty-faced” mannequins donning beautiful, realistic and stylish synthetic wigs. You are also greeted by a relaxed living-room like setting with throw pillows on a couch, soothing waterfall, relaxing music, coffee/tea service, a fi replace and two comfortable consultation areas.
W The entire wig buying experience is unique at this South
Windsor location. Janice Webber, owner and nurse has re- invented the wig shopping experience. Each client is seen by appointment only in her offi ce to receive one on one personal- ized attention, wig education, and the opportunity to try on wigs in privacy. “For many of my clients, the retail setting can be overwhelming to them. They are still coming to terms with their diagnosis and hair loss.” Also, for clients who are not physically well, Janice will bring a selection of wigs, and conduct the con- sultation in their homes.
Many clients initially believe that they want a human hair wig, thinking it will look the most natural. However, when shown both a human hair wig and a synthetic wig, it becomes very diffi cult to tell the difference. A high-quality synthetic wig is incredibly natural looking. Synthetic wigs are lighter weight and easier to care for. They require no styling. You can virtually just shake it, put it on and go. Many women in treatment fi nd that the last thing they want to concern themselves with is spending hours maintaining a human hair wig. Synthetic wigs are also much more affordable. Often, you can own 4 or 5 synthetic wigs for the cost of one human hair wig. Connecticut has mandated that insurance companies provide reimbursement up to $350 for chemo-induced hair loss. Your physician must write an order for a "cranial prosthesis.”
