WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED - INFECTIOUS ‘LAUGHTER &

COSINESS’ FROM GUYS & DOLLS THIS Autumn’s musical from UpShoot

Theatre, musical the glamour is

considered to be the perfect romantic exuding

comedy, and

richness of Broadway, with wonderful brassy music by Frank Loesser. We meet a group of oddball characters trying to get by in Damon Runyon’s mythical 50’s New York. Small-time, but serious gamblers, play an eternal crap game arranged by Nathan Detroit (Simon Godfrey), in various venues across the city to keep the police off their scent. Nathan’s fiancé Adelaide (Katie-May Gooderham) is the lead singer in an off-Broadway club where she laments her 14 year engagement. A well- heeled gambler Sky Masterson (Michael Blackman)

is only high wherever it might be,

interested in finding the next big game with

stakes, until

he meets Sarah Brown (Beth Keyes-Holloway), the serious Sergeant of the local Mission who’s trying to convert the lost souls of Broadway to God. So we’re all set-up for a wonderful array of musical and dance numbers around a catalogue of mistakes and near-misses that cannot and do not fail to entertain. With wonderful songs like ‘Luck Be a Lady’, ‘Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat’ and ‘Guys and Dolls’ that will warm the coldest hearts and lift the lowest spirits. Come and support UpShoot in helping the Fisher Theatre meet its target, while feeling all cosy and smiley with Guys & Dolls.
