digital signage kiosk design-

The large format digital sig- nage kiosks have been installed onto the concourses of JR Nara station and Kintetsu Nara sta- tion, to provide locals and visi- tors to the re-gion easy access to vital travel information in

years, there has been an in- creased demand for larger, higher resolution touchscreens that can withstand long-term use, even in outdoor environ- ments. The design of our kiosks is very important to us as we aim to provide the highest standard of design, and that includes the touchscreen – as this is the interface with the user. As the design of each kiosk if differ- ent, we required touchscreen technology that could meet our individual needs whilst being robust enough to work reliably

Located in the Nara prefec-

ture in the Kansai region, the south-central region of Ja-pan’s main island Honshu, these sta- tions are the two main hubs for local and long-distance high- way buses. The Nara Kotsu Bus Line has been providing sched- uled

local services including

sightseeing tours, charters, and airport and intercity transport in the region since 1929, and currently serves over 50 million passengers a year. Mr.

Akihiro Yokota, product development division at HYO- JITO, commented: “The touch enabled digital signage kiosks we produce are equipped with mainly original multilingual map applications.

concluded, “We’re delighted to support HYOJITO with the design of these two interactive public kiosks that are now in use at important transport hubs within Japan. A reliable touch- screen is central to delivering a good experience and providing essential information to users of the stations. This project demonstrates the true flexibili- ty of Zytronic’s manufac-turing process, and ability to produce high quality, specially designed robust touchscreens at very low quantities.”

Philips partners with Crestron

Philips Professional Display Solutions has joined forces with Crestron to create a na- tive AVoIP solution for Philips large format displays. Using the Philips PDS Open Plugga- ble Specification (OPS) port, Crestron has worked with Intel to pro-vide a network encoder – the DM-NVX-D80IoAV – that can transform Philips PDS’ lat- est large format displays into a certified Crestron solution, allowing audio and 4K video to be distributed across any net- work.

He said: “We are delighted to announce this synergy with Creston, which brings an add- ed dimension and increased functionality to our renowned large format display range – es- pecially in the corporate sector. At Philips Professional Display

Solutions we’re dedicated to innovating for our cus-tomers’ future needs. Providing qual- ity displays that are augment- ed with solutions that add true value. This collaboration brings huge benefits to both inte- grators and end users. We’re looking forward to an exciting future developing together with Crestron.” Crestron’s DM NVX decoder plugs into the Philips OPS port and is powered by the display. This eliminates the need for messy cables and cumbersome power sup-plies, which reduces installation costs and provides a seamless integrated network AV solution. This smart tech- nology also allows for integra- tion with Crestron XiO Cloud, an IOT-based platform that enables system deployment without program-ming with the ability to monitor, manage, and control each display from a sin- gle location.

VISION publishes Crestron and AMX drivers

Vision’s new 4K video-over-eth- ernet

matrix product comes

with native Crestron and AMX drivers which make it easy for installers to integrate with a control sys-tem in commercial and hospitality video distribu- tion applications.

Vision learnt a lot about how integrators and end users use these products with their earlier generation product, so this new TC-MATRIX has been carefully thought through to help avoid classic video-over-IP mistakes. Vision’s Director Stuart Lock-

hart: “there are lots of traps that even senior network engi- neers can’t see. We needed a different level of engineer, so

we brought in a team of crack IoT experts who helped us de- velop the new platform and wrote the setup software. It does all sorts of checks in the background to ensure the sys- tem runs smoothly.”

Vision also focussed on sup-

port; hardware can be hot- swapped by end users with-out having to use the configuration software, and it uses external power
