HRGolfGuide.com Thailand continued from page 3

Making our way to the ancient ruins was a full-day adventure. We had to take a taxi to the train station, ride a train for about an hour and then take a Tuk Tuk to the many locations of the ruins.

The ruins were amazing. Most of them were from the 1300s and includ- ed various Buddha statues such as the one that they call “Buddha in a Tree.” We also visited a floating market near the ruins which sell mostly fresh fruits and vegetables, but they also have plenty of souvenirs including t-shirts, tote bags and jewelry for purchase. We saw an outdoor performance while at

a floating market which added a bit more culture to the trip. There was a little confusion when the taxi that was to take us back to Bangkok turned out to be one of the Tuk Tuk driver’s relatives but one has to get up pretty early in the morning to catch a skeptic like me off guard. We were still able to get a car on the Grab app and arrive at the airport in plenty of time to get our flight back to South Korea.

The hotels in Thailand have the best selections of breakfast options I have seen anywhere. From authen- tic Thai food to Chinese to European

and American cuisine, a breakfast in a major Thailand hotel will have it all. Since my daughter and I are vegetari- ans, they often prepared special dishes for us, that included tofu, like vegeta- ble fried rice. We never dined outside the hotel during our ten days in Thai- land. We were so full from breakfast that while we were out, food was the last thing on our minds. When we re- turned to the hotel in the evenings, we were too exhausted from all of the sightseeing that we did not have the energy to go out to eat. We usually had dinner at the hotel or ate nothing at all for dinner.

Anyone who plans to visit Thai-

land should bring some Epsom salt because there is so much to see that they will walk until they can no longer stand and the stores there do not stock it. I searched high and low for Epsom salt in Bangkok. Someone finally told me that there is no Epsom salt there because most homes in Thailand do not have bathtubs. I know Epsom salt is also great for soaking tired

feet,

which does not require a bathtub. I would have never had time to soak my feet anyway. Hopefully I will be able to visit Thailand again soon.
