Rabil, Snyder Collect Virginia Sports Information Directors All-State Recognition for CNU Men’s Golf
W&M’s Senior David Hicks Named VaSID Second-Team All-State

Christopher Newport men’s golfers were named to the 2018-19 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division All-State Teams on Tursday morning, as David Rabil hauled in first team and William Snyder collected second team honors. Rabil earned his third career
All-State selection and second first team nod as he joins just Matt DiSalvo and Harry Nodwell as three- time recipients. Snyder picked up his first career All-State recognition aſter also collecting PING All- Region plaudits. Earning a first team All-State
certificate for the second time aſter being named the 2017 VaSID State Player of the Year, Rabil wrapped his career as one of the most decorated CNU golfers of all time. Te four- time All-Conference selection ended his tenure as a two-time All- Region selection while also boasting first team All-American honors in 2017.

finished with a career-best average of 73.94, which ranks in the top-ten all-time at CNU. He also lowered his career average to 74.86, setting a new program record for scoring average among players with at least 40 round in their career. Rabil earned first team All-Conference honors this season aſter finishing tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard at the
CAC Championship with a 13-over score through 54 holes of action. He finished four of his seven events played this season in the top ten and three among the top five finishers. Joining Rabil on this year’s
All-State team was fellow veteran William Snyder, earning second team honors. Snyder ranked second on the team with a 75.0
stroke
average and led the team with 20 rounds played. He earned GCAA All-Region honors among 14 other men from the Mid-Atlantic region. Snyder fired a career-low 69
at the Don Scalf Invitational in the fall season and boasted four total rounds at par or better over the course of the season. He finished in the top-five twice and ended the year with four top-ten efforts. Snyder opened the season with a fourth- place finish at the Don Scalf before going on to finish two-over at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate and four- over at the VSGA Intercollegiate for back-to-back top ten finishes. In the spring, Snyder’s top performance came when he tied for 33rd at the Jekyll Island Collegiate with a 54- hole 220 (+4), including a pair of Even par 72’s. Snyder lowered his career
average to 75.9 through 31 rounds of action in his first two years at CNU. He will return to the team to help lead the squad as a fiſth-year senior in 2019-20.

Dominion men’s and women’s golf teams held their 43rd annual Spivey Rentals Golf Classic at Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk, Va. over the weekend. All proceeds from the Spivey Rentals Golf Classic benefit the experience of the student- athletes on the ODU men’s and women’s golf teams. Overall Champions: Kyle Mutter
