School celebrates good rating at first inspection
A PRIMARY school, opened just three years ago, has earned out- standing praise from a govern- mentwatchdog. Great leadership and a broad
range of subjects, including an “impressive understanding of Brexit” amongpupils, were among thepositive commentsmade about Langley Park PrimaryAcademy at its firstOfsted inspection. Describing the principal Libby
Fidock as a strong figureheadwith a clear mission, inspector Frances Nation said: “She has her finger on thepulse of the school. She inspires confidence in parents and staff.” The school in Edmett Way,
Maidstone, received a good grade for its quality of teaching andpupil outcomes and outstanding marks for leadership; the behaviour of pupils and nursery provision. The report noted that leaders
andstaffwerewell trainedto iden- tify concerns aboutpupils’welfare. The teaching of phonics had im-
proved reading skills and books bought for the school’s “under- used library” recognised a call fromparents formore story time. The inspector suggested im-
provements in the teaching of sci- ence,
religious studies and
geography; higher teacher expec- tation of more able pupils and closer inspection of ’ handwriting. The inspector concluded that
pupils enjoyed coming to school andattendancewas above average.
