FOCUS & ME

Afr livng in Singpoe fo 2 years
my husband and I decided to move to London when he was offered a new position by his company.
It wasn’t an easy decision, considering we very much enjoyed our life in Singapore – we both had good jobs, our two young children were well set- tled in school, and we had amazing friends. Te opportunity to move came along, and even though we had previously visited London we have always wanted to experience London as residents. London offers an entirely differ- ent lifestyle from the cities we have lived before, but the drastic change can be quite overwhelming.
Even though this wasn’t our first time moving as a family to a different country, there were expectations to manage and challenges to overcome. It was also difficult managing the move from the other side of the world, espe- cially with the big time difference. We realised we needed some help from people who were familiar with living in London and could advise us on how things worked.
Tat’s when my husband’s company recommended that we get in contact with FOCUS. Tey mentioned that FOCUS would be able to provide guidance and answer frequently asked questions. Teir approach was pro- fessional and flexible, yet friendly and approachable. After communicating via Skype a few times, our doubts related to job hunting, housing and schooling started to fade.
I muc apreciat
thi tam o incredibe popl fo bing so welcoming and supotive
We have kept in touch since then, and now that our family is settling well in London, I am dedicating my time to embrace a change in my work ca- reer. I am attending the Career Development Workshop organised by FOCUS, which has been an enriching and eye-opening experience, even suggesting career development options I hadn’t considered so far. All the workshops and seminars are interesting, engaging, and always bring extra value. I am definitely planning to attend more in the near future. Te other asset of FOCUS is the networking experience, which is extremely valuable for people new in the country.
I much appreciate this team of incredible people for being so welcoming and supportive. I have the feeling London will be remarkable.
