Bungay Camera Club

BUNGAY Camera Club held its latest meeting at Broome Village Hall on Wednesday 10th April.

The evening was a competition evening, the judge was Gill Adams from Maldon in Essex.

There was a very reasonable membership turnout for the competition which generates points for end of year awards and trophies. The theme being that of

“Vintage” attracted a really diverse number of entries with many entrant’s imagination and photographic skills impressing the judge.

The DPI (digital projected image) produced a joint first

decision from judge Gill Adams with Jackie Moore gaining twenty points for her entry of a succulent swirling glass of red wine against a high key background titled “A

good

vintage”, the second entry given twenty points was “A nice pair of switches" by Adrian Muttitt. A slightly risqué fun image some members thought. The monochrome print competition produced some really imaginative interpretations of the theme one of which was again by Jackie Moore entitled “A love story from a vintage era”. This image was rightly awarded twenty points and first place. Veteran club member, David Penrose,

Yew Tree Farm, Pulham Market, Diss, Norfolk, IP21 4XN info@kentskips.com www.kentskips.com

4. "Vintage Ploughing Match" by David Penrose (equal 1st, 20 pts, monochrome print)

was, however, not to be outdone by the strong entry from Jackie Moore and was justly awarded joint first place with Jackie with his strong graphic image of “A vintage ploughing match” which also gained twenty points. A really strong monochrome entry which depicted some vintage galvanised steel baths and watering cans titled “Leaky Lot” gained Marion Ridgley a strong nineteen points for the third place in that section. The colour print section was very well subscribed with the judge commenting on the quality of both presentation, mounting and artistic content. Yet again, however, relative newcomer to the competition scene, Jackie Moore saw off the other entrant to make it a hat trick for the evening with her poignant entry “1929, the great recession…. time to move on”, this earned her another twenty points, with her third first place twenty points score of the evening. A full house indeed. Well done Jackie, keep ‘em coming. The Bungay Camera Club meets on alternate Wednesdays at Broome village hall near Bungay and prospective members are invited to check us out with two free taster sessions before joining the club. STAN and Ollie, June 27th at the Masonic Rooms, Redenhall Road, Harleston.

Harleston Cinema

Harleston Film Group will have a treat in June with the screening of the BAFTA Best British Film-nominated Stan and Ollie starring Steve Coogan (BAFTA best leading actor) and John C Reilly.

People of pensionable age who remember well the bittersweet slapstick, comic repartee and perfect timing of their films will revel in this portrayal of an extraordinary cinematographic relationship and younger audiences can enjoy it all anew.

Stan Laurel

and Oliver Hardy were a legendary comedic duo who formed a unique partnership in the between and early 2WW war years, bringing audiences to tears of laughter. The film portrays their relationship as they set out on a tour of Britain

in the twilight of their careers. While they face an uncertain future, the charm and beauty of their performances shine through, making each other and their audiences laugh, reconnecting them with legions of adoring fans, old and new. The film will be shown at Harleston’s Masonic Rooms on Thursday, 27th June at 2pm and 7.30pm (doors open 1.30pm and 7pm).

Entry £4 per person. Tickets may be booked in advance from Harleston’s Information Centre in Exchange Street, telephone 01379 851917.

Ice-creams for sale at both matinee and evening performances, and bar open for evening showing.
