Inside ICI Our Commitment to Your ICI Membership A s of press time for the May

issue of INCAST, the Investment Casting Institute reported that

its Membership is comprised of 82 Regular (casters) Members, 135 Affiliate (suppliers) Members, 34 Associate Regular Members and 23 Associate Affiliate Members. We’re not going to say that these growing numbers don’t make us smile. They do. We know it is the quality, not quantity of your Membership, that is the reason you stay, year after year. And it is our promise to deliver you that quality. It all begins before a company is

even approved for Membership. It is the Executive Director’s duty to carefully review each application to determine eligibility. There are six classes of membership: Regular, Affiliate, Associate, Emeritus, Individual and Student.

Once a classification has been

determined, a fee structure is reviewed. For example, a Regular Member’s annual sales of investment casting confirms their annual dues. An Affiliate Member’s fees are dependent upon the company’s sales in the investment casting industry only. A background check is then done

by a vendor who receives identifying information from the ICI relative to specific individuals and/or entities. The data is then entered into a “Denied Parties” screening database. This database is operated by a third party and electronically screens the information entered against U.S. Government Denied Party lists which identify organizations, companies or individuals that various U.S. agencies—and other foreign governments—have identified as parties that one can’t do business with. If they note that an individual or entity has been flagged, the ICI is informed. If there are no concerns, they advise that as well. Then the results of that screening are sent to the ICI for our records. Every member of the ICI must also

comply with the ICI’s Antitrust Policy. Investment Casting Institute staff must also comply and sign confidentiality non-disclosure agreements to protect the interest of our Members. Member

information is never sold or shared with Members or Non-Members alike. “We go through a detailed

Membership application process because we want to ensure that the companies complement of products are truly investment casting applicable and would derive benefit from its membership. In the past, companies who have applied for membership from parallel industries, after careful review, have proven to be the wrong fit for the ICI. Once you’ve become a Member, the return on your investment begins,” Executive Director Joseph Fritz commented. The ICI is also committed to stand

by their mission statement. “Our mission statement is three fold...We work to provide member benefits. We work to educate potential customers of the benefit of investment casting. And finally, we work to ensure the sustustainability of the industry by working with high school and college students about manufacturing and the future of the industry,” Fritz concluded. A Point of Clarification L 6 ❘ May 2019 ®

ast month, we announced that a reciprocal agreement had been established between the EICF and

the ICI pertaining to event registration. Unfortunately, some of the terms of the agreement were unclear due to different interpretation of the term, “supplier.” Carlos Olabe and Joseph Fritz have

since reviewed the agreement and have clarified the language as follows: • North American ICI Members

registering as delegates at EICF events are entitled to register at the EICF Member rate. • The reciprocal is true for EICF

Members. • Exhibitors must still be Members

of the hosting association to receive Member discounts on booth space. A good example of this is

demonstrated in the recent registration process at the EICF Helsinki event, where North American ICI Affiliate Members registered as delegates, paid the EICF Member rate. Conversely, Member rates for exhibit space is only offered to EICF Members.

It is our hope that together our

two associations continue to further the interests of the investment casting industry.
