THAMES VALLEY

Centrica, the multi-national energy and services company with headquarters in Windsor, was the leader among the large quoted Thames Valley- based companies when it came to share prices in March.

The 10% rise in its share came in a month when the group’s Business Solutions arm announced it had joined forces with the venturing arm of Japan’s largest power company, TEPCO, to deliver industrial demand response capacity for the Japanese grid.

From April, TEPCO started using Centrica’s award- winning FlexPond platform to provide flexibility services for the Reserve market in the Kyushu region, which has a significant number of both industrial customers and

renewable energy projects connected to the power grid.

But the outstanding rise of the month was by Accesso Technology Group, based at Twyford, which provides cutting-edge queuing and ticketing technology solutions to some of the top entertainment attractions around the world.

The group announced it had landed three more ski resorts in the United States for its award-winning Passport ticketing platform.

“Selling more complicated offerings online, such as rentals and lessons, poses real challenges,” said one holiday site, adding that the resort is already seeing “fantastic results.”

GLOBAL LEADER

When they land at Heathrow, they shouldn’t just turn east to London…

The Thames Valley is a powerhouse in the UK economy ...

Come and join us for an exclusive breakfast seminar – Thames Valley: Global Leader – being staged by The Business Magazine on June 11.

The event, at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, Madejski Stadium, Reading is sponsored by CoStar, EY, Vail Williams and Westcoast.

When they land at Heathrow, they shouldn’t just turn east to London ...

The Thames Valley is a powerhouse in the UK economy

But how well does the region promote itself globally? How well-known is the Thames Valley in, say, the US or Far East?

Can the region do more to attract inward investment and build trade bridges between this area and global markets?

With or without Brexit, the Thames Valley is in search of a powerful identity and a strong promotional package.

Yet the Thames Valley has so much to offer from location to tech clusters, from quality companies to skilled professional services and a renowned knowledge base.

Considering the issues will be four keynote speakers:

Mark Stansfield, head of UK analytics, CoStar Group – Information and analytics within the Thames Valley.

Charlie Nicholson, partner, Vail Williams– Land use pressures affecting the Thames Valley (office) marke.

Alex Tatham, managing director, Westcoast – Why the region has helped make such a success of the business since its inception in 1984.

Paul Etherington, partner and Ros Payne, associate partner, EY – Recent results released from EY’s UK Attractiveness Survey.

This is a free seminar and we look forward to seeing you there.
