Hokies Tie for Eighth at Weather- Shortened Clemson Invitational
Walsh’s 65 Fuels UVA During Final Round of Clemson Invitational

golf team posted a two-day total of 3-over 579 and tied with Florida State and Augusta for eighth place at the weather-shortened Clemson In- vitational on Tuesday. Te three-day tournament was played at the par 72, 6,260-yard Te Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, South Carolina. Tech shot an opening round 285
on Sunday and followed that with a 294 on Monday. Tuesday's final round was canceled due to inclem- ent weather in the Upstate of South Carolina and all scores reverted back to the end of Monday's second round Amanda Hollandsworth, a grad-
uate student from Floyd, Virginia, led the Hokies at Clemson. She post- ed a two-round total of 3-under 141 and tied for 13th place. She finished five strokes behind co-champions Micheala Williams of Tennessee and Julie McCarthy of Auburn. Elizabeth Bose, a senior from
Norfolk, Virginia and Jessica Spicer, a junior from Bahama, North Caro- lina, tied for 35th place at 145. Emily
Mahar, a sophomore from Brisbane, Australia and Keera Foocharoen, a freshman from Bangkok, Tailand, tied for 57th place at 148. Vanderbilt claimed the team
title with a 21-under 555, eight strokes ahead of Auburn and 13 strokes ahead of host Clemson. Illi- nois was fourth at 574, Texas A&M was fiſth at 575, LSU was sixth at 576 and Tennessee was seventh at 577, two strokes ahead of the Hok- ies, Seminoles and Jags. Michigan State was 11th at 580, Virginia was 12th at 581, Purdue was 13th at 582, Kentucky was 14th at 584, Indiana was 15th at 585, UNC Wilmington was 16th at 591, Tulane was 17th at 595 and Kansas finished 18th at 602. Tis was the final tournament of
the regular season. Tech returns to action April 18-20 at the 2019 ACC Women's Golf Championship. Te three-day event will be played at Sedgefield County Club in Greens- boro, North Carolina. Seedings for the tournament will be announced next week.

Salem, S.C. – Te Virginia men's team posted its best

round total and tournament score of the season to finish fiſth at the Clemson Invitational at Te Cliffs at Keowee Falls in Salem, S.C. Te Cavaliers shot 13-under 275 during Sunday's final round for a three-day total of 22-under 842. Georgia Tech won the event at 52-under 812.
Senior All-American Tomas
Walsh (High Point, N.C.) equaled his career low 18-hole score, shooting 7-under 65, to lead the Cavaliers during the final round. He tied for seventh place at 10-under 206. Junior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) tied with Walsh for seventh place. He shot 6-under 66 to post an under-par round for the third consecutive day.
Senior Ashton Poole (Charlotte,
N.C.) was 29th at 1-under 215, his best finish and tournament score during the season. Sophomore

finished 33rd at 1-over 217. He shot 73 during the final round. Sophomore WeiWei Gao (Cebu, Philippines) rounded out UVA's scoring with a season-best 54-hole score of 4-over 220.
Sophomore Max Siegfried (Villanova,
Pa.), who competed as an individual, shot 73 and placed 53rd at 6-over 222. It was his first tournament appearance as a Cavalier.
