condition, locomotion and jump work. New features updated through the app free of
charge as they are developed. Since the app uses your phone’s GPS for speed and
distance data, you need to ride with your phone to receive those figures. Cardio, calories and speed can be seen live. (You can ride without your phone and will still receive all the other data.) Compiled data for each ride can be reviewed on graphs showing it in real time. Seaver devices carry a two-year warranty against

fornia has been using her Seaver sleeve for her two young KWPN geldings, Herbie and Jayden, for almost a year. “I love the feature to analyze the symmetry from left to right as well as the amount of time spent traveling and working in the vari- ous gaits. Having started these youngsters over the last year it has also been really fun to see the height of their strides get higher with strength and training,” Robyn says. “Knowing about the difference in directional symmetry has allowed me to tweak my training routine to be more balanced.” Isabelle Franchini from California is an adult amateur
event rider who uses a Seaver device on her Thorough- bred Trastevere, primarily for her dressage work. She feels one of the best features is the diagnostic data. “The data helps me to keep my workouts consistent—consistent workouts with amount of time at each gait and way of going,” she says. “I believe this information helps me keep him strong and this helps keep his scores low!” Sanjay Bagai, a Grand Prix jumper and owner of Zeit-
geist Equestrian in Petaluma, California, says, “The Seaver girth is an essential tool for serious training across all equestrian disciplines. If you don’t have one, you are miss- ing out.”
Hylofit
In 2016, as Eliane van Reesema of Wellington, Florida, was bringing her Grand Prix dressage horse, Adelante, back from injury, she began looking for additional insights to inform her training decisions. She was introduced to an equine HR (heart rate) specialist in the Netherlands, who was known for promoting heart rate measurement as a highly effective tool for customizing training programs. While excited by the new training techniques, Eliane was frustrated by the lack of real-time data. She wanted to

make training adjustments from the saddle without wait- ing for third-party analysis. She felt confident an equine performance tracker with in-ride feedback had great potential in the equine community. In the summer of 2016 she and two business partners, Kate Motley and Laxmi Wordham, started the company Hylonome and began the development process to create the Hylofit System, a wear- able device for horse and rider that delivers accurate, real- time feedback so training adjustments can be made from the saddle. Hylofit was launched in the fall of 2018. Hylofit features include: Video overlay to upload a video of a ride into the
app. The app will match the timestamps and overlay horse and rider heart rate, showing the cardiovascular impact during specific moments of the training session. Real-time viewing on a phone and/or Apple Watch of horse and rider heart rate, speed and distance, with customizable alerts for in-ride feedback. Wireless heart rate monitor for horse that fits all tacks so it can be used across disciplines. Girth attachment is waterproof and no charging is required. Hylofit is designed to help riders in the different
