Sangers AAH Old plus new equals success!

O

riginally named Thomas McMullan & Company Limited, the company now

known as Sangers AAH has survived two World Wars, the partition of Ireland, the launch of the NHS and 30 years of ‘the Troubles’!

And, with almost 160 years of delivering excellence, Sangers AAH continues today to provide a top-class service to community pharmacy throughout the province.

One wonders when he landed on the shores of Donaghadee, whether Thomas McMullan would ever have believed that his family would contribute so much to the city of belfast and secure a positive future for its employees.

Today, Sangers AAH retains that ‘family spirit’ – both within the company itself and – most importantly – with its customers throughout Northern Ireland and, according to the company’s National

Sales Manager, Northern Ireland, Steven Craig, that ‘family spirit’ that is one of the main reasons for the company’s success.

‘The legacy and deep-rooted relationships that are the very essence of the Sangers AAH brand are definitely something that is celebrated both within the company and with our customers,’ he says.

‘Over the years, we have joined our colleagues in celebrating their long- service achievements, with some celebrating 30+ and 40+ years of service. While some have naturally retired from the company after many years, we are delighted to still have the service of so many long- standing colleagues.

‘While we are delighted to have retained many of our ‘best elements’, however, we have also brought in new, ‘fresh elements’, who will help to drive both our company and our brand forward in a dynamic way. It is

essential that Sangers AAH continues providing our customers with a first- class leading service, which is based on local expertise and operational excellence, and we are proud to have assembled a team of strong, supportive and passionate leaders.

‘Our CEO, Toby Anderson, for example, came to the company in September of last year and brought with him a wealth of operational experience and knowledge, as well as a keen focus on developing customer relationships – the perfect fit for our business and our customers.

‘Going forward, we intend to focus on both reintroducing our existing Sangers AAH staff members to customers and on introducing our new faces.

‘The fact that the company has been around for so long,’ Steven continues, ‘means that we have built up personal relationships with our customers and we will always work to

strengthen those relationships. We strive to provide the best in class availability combined with competitive pricing, award-winning distribution and clear communication and, in order to do this, we need to listen to our customers at all times.’

Never was this ethos of ‘listening to the customer’ more apparent than in October last year, almost a year after the merger of the two companies in November 2017, when Sangers AAH carried out market research in order to obtain the views of its customers on its overall service.

‘We know that our business model is extremely well structured,’ Steven continues. ‘Our stock is always readily available and our great range of products – which is frequently expanded - more than meets our customers’ needs both in terms of excellent delivery times and great value for money. In this way we can help our partners to maximise their pharmacy’s profitability.’
