City to install 336

cameras have finally arrived and will soon be installed in strategic areas in Dumaguete City.

The long-awaited CCTV

The arrival of the cameras was announced in a press briefing by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo Thursday. In the press conference with PLDT One Visayas Associate Vice President Jimmy Chua, Remollo said that the Dumaguetenos will see the gradual installation of cameras in all major intersections and strategic locations in the 30 barangays.

The purchase of CCTV cameras was initiated during the previous administration but had been stalled at the City Council. Unde r

administration, the acquisition of the CCTV cameras was also stalled after the City insisted on merely renting the equipment for five years and returning it to the winning bidder. The first two biddings were declared a failure.

system will be established inside the City Hall.

PNP to probe BM Dungog’s killing

On that fateful Monday afternoon, Provincial Board Member Miguel Dungog had reported to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan that he was joining the Board’s regular weekly session. Dungog was president of the Philippine Councilors’ League-Negros Oriental Chapter, and was ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

But this was different from the previous Mondays, as he was bringing his four-year-old daughter with him.

“I’ll probably leave early,” he told Vice Gov. Mark Macias prior to the session, “as I am taking my daughter to the hospital for her vaccination. Inatay (inay and itay) ko ron.” Dungog’s wife, Karen Solomon-Dungog, was in Siaton to prepare for her campaign as councilor in her husband’s hometown. The session finished early, and Dungog left with his daughter for their hospital appointment. After dropping off his daughter and the nanny at the hospital’s main entrance, Dungog drove out to look for a parking space. He found a spot behind the Silliman Power Plant, parked, alighted from his car, and started walking back to the hospital. Suddenly, two suspects came and shot him at point blank range, hitting him on the cheek. He was
