MAIDSTONE Grammar School was forced to close early one day, when itswater supplywas cut. The school shut on February 25


after a water utility company car- ried out works near the Barton Road school. The school said in a statement to


parents and pupils: “Due to South East Water carrying out mainte- nancework in the vicinitywe have foundourselves in the unfortunate position of having nowater. “As a result, we have no toilet


flushing or washing facilities for the students or staff andwe there- fore have to close the school. “We have been reassured that


the school will be functional to- morrow and pupils can attend as normal.”

Teenager stands up to BritainFirstprotestors


THE far-right Britain First group met its match when a Muslim teenager faced up to itsmembers inMaidstone. The BF leader Paul Golding and


seven colleagues were in Week Street distributing leaflets protest- ing about a plannedmosque rede- velopment. BF claims the three-floor replace-


ment buildingis a “megamosque”. The young woman, aged 17, ac-


ceptedone of the tracts before tear- ing it up in front of them, saying: “Go **** yourselves!” The sixth-former,who asked not

have to respect their different views but so much of what they say is just wrong and designed to stoke up hatred againstMuslims.” The group was also met by
