What all the ongoing education means is that NKBA members know (or have immediate access to) everything there is to know within their particular area of expertise. It also means that they can put their book learning and technical knowledge to good practical and marketable use.
An important focus of the NKBA is interpersonal skills. NKBA members are able to relate with their clients and to properly communicate their ideas. Most importantly, they listen carefully to their client's wishes and are able to interpret those wants and needs into a workable plan and successful final project.
In addition to getting and maintaining an impressive amount of knowledge, NKBA certification requires that members meet a code of professional ethics. As such, you can expect fair pricing for quality labor and materials. You will never be left unsatisfied with no mode of recourse. Having taken the time and effort to go through the certification process in the first place, NKBA members show just how much pride they take in their skills, and just how much care they will take with every kitchen and bath remodel they undertake.
Besides keeping their own members informed, NKBA is also out to serve homeowners directly. Homeowners can talk to an NKBA-certified designer or go directly to the main website for inspiration.

The NKBA is just as devoted to educating homeowners as they are remodeling professionals. As such, they have a vast array of informative articles (
nkba.org) as well as their "Design Competition Gallery" (
sacnkba.org), with high quality images of projects that will inspire you in your own kitchen or bathroom remodel.
For more information about how to make your kitchen or bathroom remodel a creative and financial success, call any of the Members in the directory on pages 29-32 or the Mark-It-Place Showcase Listing page 32. Or visit the local NKBA California Capital Chapter's website at
