Technology has become intertwined in so many aspects of our lives. However, the one area that remains a bit behind the times is the one that is actually prime to be the tech hub of the home—the kitchen.
People love technology, and are very curious about it. (The “2018 Kitchen Technology Awareness & Usage Report” conducted by the NKBA has reflected that.) However, the idea of a relatively large-scale commitment in the kitchen can make them a bit nervous. Web- enabled appliances, smart lighting, touch faucets, voice controls, and all the other possible bells and whistles can be a bit overwhelming.

The fact is that technology is not going away. More than that, it’s going to keep advancing. So, homeowners who outfit their kitchen now can only benefit in the future, especially if they’re looking to sell one day. Every kitchen remodel should be approached as a way to advance the technological components of a kitchen. This does not conflict with the overall goal of improving a kitchen’s look and functionality. Rather, technology can actually make those main goals easier to achieve.

“CENTRAL HUB” REFRIGERATOR
There are a couple of refrigerator models available that can literally do just about everything. A touchscreen in one of the doors has all the functionality of an electronic tablet. You can tell it to create a grocery list, take an inventory of the contents in the fridge or freezer, let you see what’s inside without opening a door, get recipes, gather electronic coupons and more. You can also use it as a kind of bulletin board, to schedule appointments and leave notes for yourself and others.
