South Coast law firm Churchers Solicitors has promoted three members of staff as the firm continues to grow and expand across its six Hampshire offices. Leesa Clemow (left) has been promoted to partner, Sarah Hallett (centre) to senior solicitor and Claire Duffy (right) to associate. Clemow joined the firm in 1998 and specialises in family law. Hallett joined the firm in 2013 as a trainee, qualifying in 2015, and now undertakes all aspects of work within the Criminal Department. At the Cosham office, Duffy is a member of the child law team. She joined Churchers in 2013, having qualified as a solicitor in 2006.
The Reading office of Gateley plc, the legal business of law-led professional services group Gateley, is celebrating its third year of business by welcoming some new faces. The original team of two has grown to a total of 41 staff. Following the acquisition of Guildford law firm, GCL, last summer, Gateley Reading’s residential development unit now comprises a team of seven. Recent appointments include legal directors Andrew Annette in the residential development team, Vanessa Gardiner in the family team and Mary-Ann Orr in commerce, technology and media, along with four new solicitors, a new senior associate, three paralegals, a new trainee and three legal secretaries.

Planning and design consultancy Barton Willmore has strengthened its South Coast team with two key senior appointments. Rachel Murrell (left) and Jane Piper (right) join Barton Willmore’s Southampton-based planning team, each bringing significant planning experience in both the public and private sectors. Murrell is a chartered town planner with 15 years’ experience and joins Barton Willmore from the London Borough of Brent, where she managed the development management team. Piper, with 20 years’ experience, joins the consultancy from Intelligent Land, where she was director of planning, and was previously a director at Terence O’Rourke.
South Coast based Hendy Group has appointed Simon Bottomley as its new chief operating officer in a key appointment for the expanding automotive company. Bottomley takes over the reins as chief operating officer from Andy Stevenson who retires later this year after 25 years with Hendy. Bottomley joins from Cambridgeshire- based Thurlow Nunn, an automotive and agricultural supply company, where he was group managing director for 15 years, following an early career in engineering.

IBB solicitors has promoted Jo Cunningham (right) to head of marketing and recruited Hetal Rai (left) to the role of head of business development. Cunningham joined IBB Solicitors in October 2018 as key account and marketing manager. She has more than 20 years’ marketing and business development experience in professional services firms and higher education. Rai joined IBB solicitors in January 2019. She has over 18 years’ business development and marketing experience gained within top international law firms in London, Frankfurt and Munich.

Alexandra Bray, Jessica Blackwell and Ashni Parmar have all joined Clifton Ingram’s wills and inheritance team. Bringing previous legal experience from national and regional firms, their appointments have now taken the number of people in Clifton Ingram’s wills and inheritance team up to 18, headed by Peter McGeown. Noorie Naeem and Alice Ridgus have also joined Clifton Ingram as paralegals in the firm’s family team, assisting with a wide range of family and children matters including divorce, matrimonial finances, Children Act matters and care proceedings.
