ON Tuesday 15th January, a performing arts company called HighTide visited Alde Valley Academy for a workshop day. Kirsty and Lorna work for HighTide; they spoke to a group of year 9's about the importance of Drama. HighTide writes and puts on plays throughout Suffolk.


During the day, a talented group of Year 9's raced through a variety of Drama activities, from fun and games to learning what important jobs are needed at HighTide and throughout the Performing Arts industry. HighTide) spoke to the year 9's about the job opportunities that are required at HighTide. The students discovered that there are over 20 jobs that are really important to make the perfect play: from costume designer and make-up artist to script writer and stage director. As the workshop came to an end, the Year 9's were given the opportunity to ask questions, such as: “How did you get into the industry of performing?”, “Do you have to take Drama to become an actor, singer, dancer?”


Students commented, “HighTide was an amazing experience and I definitely want to take Drama for GCSE.” Miss
